Cast Iron Hinges
Charles Collinge Forged and Engineered Hinges.
For over 200 years the Charles Collinge name has been associated with the finest traditional cast iron strap hinges. They can be seen on hundreds of Mews House, Government buildings, Royal Palaces and grand estates as well as on historic building around the world.
The cast iron hinge has proved itself over the years in many different situations. Sometimes however, whether to meet geometric constraints or suit an architectural language the cast iron hinge is not suitable.
At Charles Collinge we have developed two complimentary ranges to address some of these issues.
Taking the elevation profile of the existing cast iron hinges we have produced a range of eight hinges sizes to match the cast iron range.
One of the key differences with these hinges is the ability to open the door through 180° due to the cranked end of the hinge.
Firstly, we have our forged hinge range made by our Blacksmith, hot dip galavanised and the treated with an etch primer either to weather naturally or have a paint finish applied.
Secondly, we have our stainless steel hinge range engineered to provide a statement hinge ideal for contemporary properties and in coastal areas.
All hinges are supplied with stainless steel fixings, blackened for the forged hinges and self colour for the stainless version.
In addition to the standard range of eight traditional lengths both these hinge types can be bespoke made to suit your requirements.
